Recovery

Before we dive into the fun part of the blog, I would like to explain the lack of posts here on Keep It Cute. As you may know, Hurricane Irma came through this area Sunday, September 10, 2017. September 6 was a day I had set aside for a blog post but that got canceled as I hurried about preparing for an immense storm. September 13 would have been when the next blog post went up but we remained without power and internet. September 20, then, would have brought you another post but it was the first full week back to "normalcy" and so the blog was put aside while I worked like crazy to catch things up and continue the clean-up. That brings us to September 27, today. 

Instead of the usual type of blog post you might expect here, I wanted to come on briefly and explain what had happened and also to reassure you we are still here. It has been a much slower experience to get back to the way things were before Hurricane Irma than I anticipated. When you spend days preparing for an unprecedented storm, your priorities take a beating. When you come out of it relatively unscathed, your priorities get shuffled around some more. Life after Irma has been disorienting, and not just because of the countless trees toppled over and drastically altering familiar landscapes.  

But now, two weeks after Irma came and went, things are starting to get their rhythm. I felt it was important to bring back the blog as soon as possible-- it's a beacon in a way. I also felt it was important to get back into the community as soon as possible, so I will be at Lincoln's Beard Brewery (7360 SW 41st St, Miami, FL 33155) again this Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 12 - 6 for their monthly family-friendly event Recess. If you have never been, I do encourage you to go. It's a giant play date but with easy access to delicious beer. Take an Uber and unwind. I've been going the past few months and it's a good time for everyone.
