If you love the idea of handmade Valentines but lack time, talent, and/or creativity, we might be the same person but also, this card is about to make your day. Leave the fancy stuff to the fancy folks and embrace the simple life with this washi tape card. And since you're short on time, let's skip the novel about my life and how this project is going to save your soul and get right to the ridiculously easy project!
|
1. Cut your card by folding your construction paper in half in one direction, and then again in the other direction. |
Unfold it and cut it down the shorter middle fold. Voila, you now have TWO blank cards because you're ambitious like that. |
Get one roll of washi tape and line it up diagonally in the top left corner. Tape across. Cut off the edges that spill over the card. |
Get your next roll of washi tape, line it up under the first line. Tape it down. Cut off the edges that spill over the card. |
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the front of your card is covered and you're done. You can then open the card and write "Happy Valentine's Day" or a poem if you're the overachiever with the cardstock. You can also flip the card over and write that it was made by you just in case they forget how awesome you are. I also like to add a sticker back there so it makes me feel legit. |
Congratulations, you now have a super cute card and it didn't even make a dent in your schedule. If your washi went wonky, you can carefully peel it off and reposition it because washi tape is pretty forgiving when it's freshly applied. If you want to bond with your family, this is a pretty good project everyone can make since it's pretty fail-proof.
Have you seen some cute and simple handmade valentines? Please share them with me, I love them! Also, I made a cute timelapse video of this that you can see on my Instagram.
